Leading women presenting at business workshop
Dame Susan Devoy, Annah Stretton, and Mary Lambie are among 18 leading businesswomen presenting at a two-day Auckland workshop in September.
The Her Business 2005 Businesswomen’s Workshop will provide New Zealand women with the strategies and tools to enhance their businesses.
The workshop on 28-29 September at the Crowne Plaza Hotel is an annual event featuring many of the Her Business Businesswoman of the Year award winners, including Karen Scott of Tots to Teens and Robyn Galloway of Innovative Travel Company.
Her Business editor Althea Tollemache says the workshop event brings together inspirational speakers, leading entrepreneurs and outstanding role models from around the country.
“The aim of this annual workshop is to encourage and equip businesswomen with the tools and inspiration to take their businesses to the next level. The event will motivate and encourage those who are hesitant in taking the big step into self employment and empower those who have.”
Tollemache says in an environment driven by successful women, the rate of women in entrepreneurial roles in New Zealand is the highest in the developed world. ”The latest Global Entrepreneurship Monitor findings show that New Zealand, at 12.1 percent, has the highest rate of female adult entrepreneurs in the world, improving at a rate of 9.9% from 2003.”
The key speakers, who are all leading entrepreneurs and outstanding role models, will cover topics faced by women in business on a daily basis. These include time management, building a brand, how to set up a business and successful networking.
Also presenting at the conference are Unitec lecturer Dr Alex Maritz, who will cover franchising, and Jayne Wear and Matthew Andrew of Ernst & Young, who will provide key accounting information.
Her Business magazine is in its tenth year of publication and New Zealand’s only monthly magazine designed specifically for women in business.
The magazine is also behind the Her Business Networks, which currently comprise 11 regional groups around New Zealand where about 1000 women gather monthly to build strong local and international network business relationships.
