Auckland Man Scoops $1,000 A Week For Six Years On Lotto's Winning Wheel On Election Night

Forget party politics, it's party time for Auckland's Mike Limbrick, who won $1,000 a week for the next six years on Lotto's Winning Wheel on Saturday night, says New Zealand Lotteries Commission (NZ Lotteries) Chief Executive Trevor Hall.

Mr Limbrick, from Waimauku, said that winning the prize was fantastic.

"I'm really pleased. Now I've got to decide what to do with the money that will be the hard part," he said.

This is the first time that the annuity prize has been won on Winning Wheel. The prize is worth $312,000 over the six year period.

"We are going out for dinner to celebrate our good luck. It hasn't quite sunk in yet."

Fifty nine other New Zealanders have spun the wheel on the live Lotto draw after having a winning serial number on their Lotto tickets.

Mr Limbrick, who is a self-employed builder and lists motorsport, golf and fishing as hobbies, had his wife Bernie and his brother with him at the televised draw.

He bought the winning Triple Dip ticket at Kumeu Stationery & Lotto. He forgot to get it checked for three weeks and then discovered his win at Kumeu Four Square.

The 30 segments of Lotto's Winning Wheel all have big prizes, ranging from cash and cars through to shopping sprees and a $500,000 house and land package. All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto's Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy.

This weekend's lucky Winning Wheel ticket was sold at Shell Kamo Road in Whangarei and the serial number is 019-09323316-20xx.
