Sales Of Goats Milk Soar
Goat milk is seeing a dramatic surge in sales according to the nation’s largest fresh goat milk supplier – Ridge Natural Foods.
The company’s sales figures have increased by a staggering 51% since January of this year – with sales up nation-wide from Auckland to Christchurch and plans to expand sales to all supermarkets.
Says Ridge Natural Foods spokesperson John Morgan: “We have had a massive amount of consumer feedback commenting on our product’s smooth taste – and parents love it, because it’s easily digested by children who may have a problem drinking cow’s milk.”
In fact more people in the world drink milk from goats than any other animal. It is widely used by those who seek to avoid cow milk product.
The reduced allergenicity of goat milk has been widely reported anecdotally and goat milk also contains nucleotides, which, as several studies suggest can moderate the immune system and suppress responses to food allergens.
A natural source of nutrients from protein and amino acids to fat, carbohydrate and various minerals including calcium, phosphorus and iodine – goat milk is proving a winner with New Zealand consumers.
Ridge Natural Foods is also New Zealand’s largest producer of protein-rich A2 milk.
