Rubik’s Cube Retailer To Clark’s Rescue
An innovative Wellington toy distributor has come to caretaker Prime Minister Helen Clark’s rescue.
A Dominion Post article published this week said Ms Clark was facing “A Rubik’s Cube Puzzle.
The article observed, “The subdued progress of the negotiations (towards forming a government) obscures the Rubik’s Cube-like headache” imposed on Ms Clark by the election’s result. It said that “For every coloured square that slots into place, another piece of the puzzle is squeezed out of alignment.”
Elephanta managing director Sunil Dahya, New Zealand’s sole importer of the iconic toy, immediately sent Ms Clark a Cube, as well as each of her potential coalition partners.
“There are 43 quintrillion possible solutions to the cube, and just one solution. If Ms Clark is going to get it right, she clearly has to practise,” said Mr Dahya.
This year is Rubik’s Cube’s 25th anniversary and Mr Dahya says all around the world people are still trying to solve the puzzle.
“Ms Clark will need to invest considerable time on the Cube, because we sent one to Dr Brash as well and there’s less than three years till the next election!”
