Linksys Announces First Mass Retailer in New Zealand to Offer Its Home Networking Products to Consumers

Linksys Wireless Networking Solutions now Available at
Dick Smith New Zealand Stores


AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND – October 13, 2005 – Linksys®, a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc., the recognised leading provider of voice, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and small business customer, has announced it will stock its line of select wired and wireless home networking products in Dick Smith Electronics stores throughout New Zealand.

Through an agreement with distributor Ingram Micro New Zealand, Dick Smith Electronics stores will stock the industry leading Linksys wireless networking equipment, including its new Wireless Router with Secure Easy Setup (SES) technology (WRT54G). This is the first mass retail distribution agreement for Linksys products in New Zealand and follows a similar agreement that was announced with the Dick Smith retail chain in Australia in June.

Graeme Reardon, regional manager for Linksys Australia and New Zealand said, “Our relationship with Dick Smith Electronics in New Zealand will enable us to develop awareness and acceptance for the Linksys brand among consumers. Linksys has taken a leadership position with new innovative products and according to market analysts the company has the leading share of the U.S. retail revenue home networking market. We aim to replicate this success in New Zealand which we view as a vibrant and growing market for wireless connectivity.”

Stu Meadows, manager of Dick Smith Electronics New Zealand said the demand for quality wireless products is growing as more New Zealand households and businesses move to internet broadband and networking. He said, “Through our agreement with Linksys, Dick Smith Electronics will now be able to offer our customers a range of award-winning and affordable wireless networking devices.”

Meadows said “All our stores will be able to order equipment for customers or they can buy this directly from website www.dse.co.nz.”

A range of Linksys products will be available from Dick Smith PowerHouse stores at Hamilton with a smaller range at other Dick Smith Electronics stores. The first series of Linksys products to be stocked are:

- Linksys Wireless G Access Point (WAP54G)

- Linksys Wireless G ADSL Gateway (WAG54G)

- Linksys Network Storage Link for USB2.0 (NSLU2)

- Linksys Wireless G Network Adapter (WUSB54G)

- Linksys Wireless G PCI Card (WMP54G)

- Linksys Wireless G Print Server for USB (WPS54GU2)

- Linksys Wireless G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster (WPC54GS)

- Linksys Wireless G Notebook Adapter (WPC54G)

- Linksys Wireless G Game Adapter (WGA54G)

- Linksys ADSL Gateway with 4-Port Switch (AG241)

- Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router with Speedbooster (WRT54GS)

- Linksys Switch 8-Port 10/100 (SD208)

- Linksys PrintServer for USB with 4-Port Switch (PSUS4)

- Linksys EtherFast 10/100 PrintServer (PPSX1)

- Linksys Switch 5 Port 10/100 (SD205)


More Linksys wired and wireless products are expected to launch in Dick Smith stores as new products are introduced to the marketplace.
