Ihug Feeds The Need For Speed

Ihug, one of New Zealand's leading internet providers, has become the first provider to sell all its broadband plans at the fastest speed currently offered for UBS wholesale broadband (2Mb). Ihug is also the first to offer a plan of this speed for just $29.95 a month (with ihug direct dial tolls).

Chief executive Mark Rushworth says it's unfair to expect customers to wait for a lengthy determination process to be completed before broadband products improve.

"Our customers know that 256kbps barely qualifies as broadband - it's just fast dial up. For people to take advantage of everything that broadband can offer, from sending digital photographs instantly to streaming movies, they need the fastest possible speed for around a dollar a day - so that's what we're offering."

Rushworth says the new plans are designed to make broadband accessible to all kinds of internet users, from 'Ma and Pa who check their emails and do a bit of online shopping, to the hardcore online gamer'.

"We're excited about our broadband products but we know there's still a long way to go until consumers can get the 'real deal' for broadband. That's why we'll continue to push for the regulation that will let us offer even better value broadband to our customers," he says.
