Woosh doubles download speed
Woosh is offering customers the option to double the download speed of their Internet connection from 250kbps to 500kbps, making Woosh up to 12 times faster than a dial-up Internet connection.
The speed upgrade will be free to customers on Woosh higher use Express 10GB and Fusion plans. For other customers, the Double Your Download Speed service will cost $5 including GST per month on top of their monthly plan. The service will be available from November 1.
Woosh Chief Executive Bob Smith says the introduction of faster speeds has always been part of Woosh's business plan and represents a new option for customers wanting the flexibility of a faster connection.
"While many of our customers are happy with our standard download speeds, those who use the Internet more heavily will welcome the option to double their download speeds," he says.
The announcement of the Double Your Download Speed service comes a month after the company launched phone services over its 3G broadband wireless network, a service which is being progressively rolled out in Woosh's existing coverage areas of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Southland.
