TVNZ Staff Statement
TVNZ News and Current Affairs staff around New Zealand have met today to discuss the resignation of CEO Ian Fraser and his comments regarding a politically appointed board.
They have issued the following statement:
That we as TVNZ
News and Current Affairs staff are deeply concerned by any
implication that we would bow to political interference from
Government.
Accordingly we welcome the clarification by Ian Fraser that there has not been political interference in the editorial content of News and Current Affairs at TVNZ
TVNZ’s One News is the highest rating television news service in the country.
TVNZ News and Current Affairs staff would see any political interference as a threat to New Zealand’s democratic process.
We want to assure the public we would not accept any attempt to meddle in our editorial freedom.
