Custom House execs jet to Wellington, NZ for Canada's Rugby 7s

WELLINGTON, Feb. 3 /CNW-AsiaNet/ --

Ian Taylor, Senior Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing for Custom House has flown into Wellington from Victoria, British Columbia to show his company's 100% backing for the Canadian Sevens this weekend. He is attending the matches with Fraser Jeffries, Vice President Asia Pacific.

"We are absolutely delighted to be in Wellington to show Custom House's support for this team," said Taylor. "These guys are first class athletes and great people. Yesterday we watched them conduct rugby drills and compete for fun with about 100 kids from the Johnsonville Rugby Club at Helston Park. They lost... but the sausage sizzle was great. And you know what they say - a lousy dress rehearsal means a winning game."

Custom House, one of the largest independent foreign exchange companies in the world is a big sponsor of Rugby Canada and supports the Canadian teams with financial assistance and an international marketing campaign. Their slogan is "Now You're Playing with the Big Boys"(TM).

"The National Sevens are on a heightened building phase as we prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. We don't underestimate the level of competition that we will come up against in New Zealand and the USA IRB Tournaments but this squad has been carefully selected," said Martin Gallagher, Director of Rugby, Rugby Canada.

"Sevens Technical Director, Doug Tate from Victoria along with Sevens staff Spencer Robinson (Victoria) and Shane Thompson (Montréal) combined skills to put this squad together. The key qualities for playing 'Sevens' are fitness, individual and team skills, commitment, game understanding and experience. This team has all these qualities in spades."
