Limited edition Subarus

Forward purchase of Japanese yen at more favourable rates than at the moment is allowing Subaru to offer three models in limited numbers at more affordable prices.

The Legacy 2.0R in both sedan and wagon form is available from $36,990 for the five speed manual and $39,990 for the four speed automatic.

The 2.0R is already the best equipped car in its area of the market with dual front, side and curtain air bags, climate control air conditioning, ABS brakes with EBD and Subaru's legendary All Wheel Drive transmission for better traction, road holding and grip in all driving conditions.

The Legacy 2.0R was introduced six months ago with a new two litre, DOHC, boxer engine producing 121 kWs and 187 Nm of torque.

Other features include cruise control, an immobiliser security system combined with the remote control central locking, leather steering wheel, gear lever and hand brake handle, trip computer, power steering, windows and mirrors, sport's front seats, sport's shift on the automatic transmission, 17 inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, DataDot security identification system and a three year unlimited kilometres warranty.

"Forward purchase of the yen when it was at its most favourable exchange rate to our dollar late last year has allowed us to make this offer," said Chris Rickards, the General Manager of Subaru of New Zealand.

"The Legacy 2.0R was good buying at its old price. Now at $3000 less it is even better."

The new prices apply to a limited amount of stock.

As part of its range of models at special pricing, Subaru is also offering 40 Forester XS automatics at the same price as the Forester XS manual - $39,990.

The Forester model range was significantly revised last August, making it the most versatile and safe small SUV available on the market.

It comes with a 121 kWs 2.5 litre boxer engine which has 226 Nm of torque. Features include dual front and side airbags, automatic air conditioning, ABS brakes with EBD and Subaru's unique permanent All Wheel Drive transmission.

Standard equipment includes remote central locking with an engine immobiliser, cruise control, power steering, mirrors and windows, a seven speaker CD sound system, 16 inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, self leveling rear suspension, DataDot security identification system and a three year unlimited kilometres warranty.

Subaru also has another shipment of its price leading Impreza 2.0i available between $24,990 and $26,990 depending on the gearbox option and whether it is a sedan or hatch.

"Again this is a great opportunity for those who want a new Subaru to take advantage of this limited stock offering," said Mr. Rickards. "This model is much sought after as the only AWD model in its class at this price."

The Impreza 2.0i is still well equipped. It comes with dual front and side airbags, ABS brakes with EBD, 3 years unlimited km warranty and the active safety advantage of Subaru's full time All Wheel Drive

There is a four speaker sound system and automatic air conditioning, remote central locking with engine immobiliser, cruise control, power steering, windows and mirrors, front fog lamps, DataDot security coding and a three year unlimited kilometre warranty.
