G6 Kiwi And CMS Logistics Team Up To Supply 26% Of Kiwifruit Crop To Zespri

Supply company CMS Logistics is joining the G6 Kiwi kiwifruit supply company, bringing with it five new packhouse and coolstore members.

CMS will become a thirty percent shareholder of G6 Kiwi, with G6 Kiwi assuming the management of supply from its packhouses and coolstores to Zespri.

The new partnership will see G6 Kiwi provide a supply base of 22 million trays – or 26% of the industry volume – to Zespri.

G6 Kiwi chairman Alister Hawkey says CMS's high performance and future direction makes it an important member of G6 Kiwi.

"We recognise CMS's sound strategic thinking and are looking forward to its input and value into the future."

Hawkey says CMS will bring additional skill and experience to G6 Kiwi.

"Already our board of directors is made up of independent people with their own skills, experience and knowledge which they openly share around the table. CMS will add further to the value of G6 Kiwi."

CMS Logistics director John Burke says joining with G6 Kiwi is a natural progression in the consolidation of industry suppliers.

"The two companies are extremely compatible in terms of structure and composition. They both have well performing post harvest entities. By combining them we'll provide an enlarged supply base with the best supply logistics resource in the industry."

CMS will have a director on the G6 Kiwi board and Burke will retain industry representation on the Industry Advisory Council and the Supply Chain Council.

G6 Kiwi general manager Linda Mills expects a smooth transition of the merging companies, given the similar structure, culture, performance and the strong relationships that already exist between G6 Kiwi and CMS.

G6 Kiwi is an alliance of independently owned and operated post harvest kiwifruit facilities that came together in 1998. Supplying 26 per cent of the industry volume, the company offers post harvest choice to growers. G6 Kiwi prides itself on offering first class supply chain management.
