Pork Industry CEO Resigns

Media Release

Pork Industry CEO Resigns

Angus Davidson, Chief Executive of the New Zealand Pork Industry Board, has resigned from the Board in order to pursue family business interests in South Australia.

The Board’s Chairman, Chris Trengrove, said Davidson’s resignation had been received with regret, as he had been a dynamic leader who had made a significant contribution to the industry.

“Angus has achieved a number of significant milestones for the New Zealand pork industry and is leaving it in good heart.

“Not only has the consumption of pork within New Zealand reached record levels, but the Board has noted some major achievements during Angus’s tenure as CEO,” Mr Trengrove said.

These include the establishment of a niche export market in Singapore, the development of a new Animal Welfare Code and the establishment of a large scientific research programme in conjunction with the Australian pork industry, which will be of enormous benefit to both pork producers and consumers on both sides of the Tasman.

Chris Trengrove said that Davidson will remain with the Board until 30th June and that the process of recruiting a successor is already well underway.
