Funding Scholarship Announced For Forestry Diploma Students

New Zealand based forestry company Blakely Pacific Limited has announced a funding scholarship for the 2006 year for first year National Forestry Diploma (Forest Management) students attending the Waiariki Institiute of Technology in Rotorua.

“The Scholarship, valued at $1500, is a new initiative for the company and reflects Blakely Pacific's commitment to New Zealand Forestry,” said Acting Managing Director Andrew Cocking. “It will be awarded to the person who in the opinion of our New Zealand forester selection panel best reflects the values of Blakely Pacific, including a strong commitment to forestry and who has an excellent all round ability.”

Commenting on the scholarship, Mr Cocking said that applicants are invited to submit a two page resume and that this should include details on their background, their involvement in forestry, personal values and what they consider to be the biggest issue facing New Zealand forestry in the future. The names of two contactable referees should also be included with the application.

Recipients of the scholarship may also have an opportunity to gain first hand practical knowledge within the forestry sector said Mr Cocking. “Subject to availablity, they may be eligible for holiday work in the regions of the Bay of Plenty and South Canterbury,” he said.

Applications for the scholarship funding close on April 13, 2006 and the recipient will be announced within the third week of May.
