High Tea With Twinings

4 April 2006

High Tea With Twinings

To celebrate 300 years of Twinings, the world-famous tea company will hold a sumptuous High Tea in Auckland, to be hosted by Stephen Twining, tenth generation member of the renowned tea family.

The glamorous High Tea will be held in association with Look Good Feel Better – a free service offered to women undergoing treatment for cancer – and will take place at The Grand Tearoom at the Heritage Auckland.

Stephen Twining will host the event as part of his visit to New Zealand to celebrate 300 years. On arrival, guests will be treated to a signature ‘tea’ cocktail, designed for Twinings by Vodka maestro Geoff Ross of 42 Below fame. There will also be a selection of dainty finger food accompanied by aromatic and flavourful Twinings teas.

An auction of donated limited edition and highly sought after items will run at the event, with all proceeds raised going to the Look Good Feel Better charity. Items will include a Heritage Hotels accommodation package, fragrance packages, cocktail packages, tea packages and more!

Yvonne Brownlie, General Manager of Look Good Feel Better, says High Tea with Twinings will be a unique experience and an excellent opportunity to bring women together at a worthy charity.

“We are delighted that Twinings and the Heritage Auckland have given Look Good Feel Better its support during this special anniversary year with such a wonderful event,” she says.

To celebrate Twinings 300 years of tea making, Stephen Twining will launch a unique, limited edition 1706 blend during his visit to New Zealand. 1706 is a strong full bodied tea, which is a blend of Kenyan, Assam and Ceylon teas. This will be one of a number of selected Twinings teas to be served at the High Tea event.

Stephen Twining says he is excited about his pending New Zealand visit.

“I am thrilled to be able to come to New Zealand to celebrate our 300 year birthday and launch this exciting new tea while also helping a deserving charity such as Look Good Feel Better.”

Twinings, the world-famous English tea company, is celebrating its 300th anniversary in 2006. Twinings was one of the very first companies to introduce tea drinking to the British when, in 1706, Thomas Twining started selling tea from his newly purchased premises in London. The shop remains to this day. Now enjoyed in 115 countries, Twinings continues with its reputation of setting the standard in tea blending and as pioneers in catering to every palate and drinking occasion.

High Tea with Twinings will take place at the Heritage Auckland, on Tuesday June 6, from 1-3 pm. To purchase tickets please contact Look Good Feel Better by email at info@lgfb.co.nz or phone 09 308 0245, or toll free 0800 TO LGFB (0800 865 432).
