Clean Sweep For TRN In Competitive Market
Stations owned by The Radio Network are thriving in a competitive market and strengthening their position, says TRN chief executive John McElhinney.
Commenting on the results of the latest radio ratings survey results, Mr McElhinney said: "The strengths among our portfolio of stations are pushing through and we are delighted with the latest showings.
"We are particularly pleased that in the ultra-competitive Auckland market, we have achieved a clean sweep. We now have the top three stations. NewstalkZB (13%) has easily retained its top rating, Classic Hits (9.7%) is number one in music and number two overall, and our timeless-music brand Coast (8%), has now come through into third spot after just two years on air.
"That's an outstanding result all round."
In Wellington, stations owned by TRN (jointly owned by APN News & Media and Clear Channel Communications) are doing equally well.
ZM has regained its number one position overall, with NewstalkZB running second. In the breakfast session period, Paul Holmes Breakfast on NewstalkZB has hit the lead in Wellington for the first time, ahead of ZM's Morning Crew.
In Christchurch Newstalk ZB has retained its top rating.
Nationally, NewstalkZB has held its premier position, with the biggest audience share and most listeners.
