Toll to seek expressions of interest in South Island tourist trains
The company is seeking
expressions of interest from parties interested in the two
long distance train services The TranzCoastal between Picton
and Christchurch and the TranzAlpine between Christchurch
and Greymouth.
Mr Jackson says since Toll came to New Zealand they have had calls from various tourism rail operators from around the world interested in the two South Island trains.
Mr Jackson says these services will only be sold if the right buyer can be found otherwise Toll will continue to operate and grow and enhance the services in the South Island.
Meanwhile it is very much business as usual for all North Island Tranz Scenic services. The Capital Connection between Palmerston North and Wellington, The Overlander between Auckland and Wellington and the Silver Fern which is in service in Auckland.
