Richard Prowse Joins Symantec as New Zealand Country Manager

Richard Prowse has joined Symantec as New Zealand country manager. In this role Richard is charged with managing Symantec’s overall business in New Zealand, overseeing the sales and engineering staff and operations, executing Symantec’s country, regional and corporate strategy, overseeing channel delivery and relationships as well as managing a number of corporate accounts.

David Sykes, Symantec vice president, Pacific Region says that Richard’s fifteen years of IT and business management experience will be invaluable in the role at a time when businesses and individual consumers are increasingly concerned with protecting their information and infrastructure from cyber threats, system failure or natural disasters.

“Richard has a wealth of IT industry expertise, garnered during his career both in New Zealand and the United States,” says Sykes. “We’re delighted to have Richard lead our business in New Zealand.”

Prowse joins Symantec from VMware Corporation where he was New Zealand National Sales Manager, responsible for the enterprise and channel business in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Previously he held the role of IBM xSeries Sales – Northern Region, charged with driving the xSeries Enterprise business in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Prowse spent the previous five and a half years with Dell Corporation, in New Zealand, Texas and New York in a number of roles spanning account and sales management as well as system group management. He has also worked at Compaq and BP Oil in New Zealand.

Symantec’s potential for growth in New Zealand and the unique combination of security and availability solutions attracted Prowse to the company.
