ONE Caring adult is all it takes!
The Social Services Industry Training Organisation, Te Kaiawhina Ahumahi’s national conference first day at Wairakei Resort near Taupo, has been a huge success.
At the opening, Youth Affairs Minister and Tainui MP, Hon Nanaia Mahuta said, “The youth sector occupies a space that is vibrant, creative, innovative and full of passion. While we have made some good progress, there is still much to be done. That's the journey we are embarking on together”.
International inspirational speaker and Hawaiian Professor Manulani Aluli Meyer shared that, ‘Over 40 years of research has showed that the single most important factor for youth resilience is ONE caring adult’.
The conference has attracted the attention of social sector workers and various government agencies. The next day and a half will continue to celebrate key achievements and discuss innovative and creative solutions for the challenges facing our youth.
