Postie Plus Scraps Youth Rate

Youth rates have been abolished by one of the country’s larger retail sector employers, Postie Plus Group Ltd, in a landmark move aimed at confirming the group’s position as a market leader.

“Our organisation took a considered decision to differentiate Postie Plus as a progressive business and to further enhance our reputation as a good place to work,” said Ron Boskell, who became Postie Plus chief executive earlier this year.

“Instead of waiting for changes to occur in the sector, we wanted to address this issue forthwith. Although, of course, there is an additional cost to the company, it’s one we are happy to bear.”

In practical terms the move means Postie Plus will now only pay adult rates.

“This move should make recruitment by Postie Plus more attractive to the people we wish to employ,” said Mr Boskell. “We recognise that businesses have varying workplace circumstances and complexities. This is simply our position.”

Postie Plus has approximately 1100 employees in its retail network comprising the national apparel chain Postie+, the Arbuckles Manchester chain and the Babycity chain.
