NZTE appoints new Sector Director for Tourism
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) has appointed Dame Cheryll Sotheran to the role of Sector Director Tourism. Dame Cheryll is also the NZTE Sector Director for Creative Industries.
NZTE is engaging with the tourism industry to facilitate projects to build up the long-term capability of the industry and to focus on opportunities to add value in the sector.
Dame Cheryll has had a long career in the cultural and tourism sectors, including university teaching and management and governance roles such as directorships of public art museums and membership of the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council.
She was the founding CEO of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa from 1993-2002 - Australasia's largest tourism attraction. She is based in Wellington.
