Millbrook Only South Island Winner in Australian Magazine Awards

Queenstown’s Millbrook resort has taken third place in a prestigious Australian magazine readers’ award designed to recognise excellence.

The five-star property won the bronze award for Best Hotel/Resort in New Zealand thanks to entries through the Holidays for Couples magazine and website.

Voting was open to members of the public only, as an accolade to properties from guests who have personally stayed there.

Guests were asked to rate properties in five categories, ranging from ambience and decor, to standard of service and staff, the comfort factor and standard of accommodation, the standard of restaurants, and scenery and natural attractions.

Millbrook will receive a hand-crafted glass plaque in recognition of its award, behind Huka Lodge (gold) and the Hilton Auckland (silver).

Holidays for Couples magazine is dedicated to the lucrative couples market -- honeymooners, those planning a romantic retreat, or simply travel for two. It has 125,000 readers throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia. The magazine will run a feature on the winners in its October 2006 issue.

General Manager Jan Hunt said she was thrilled Millbrook had rated among the top luxury properties in the country.

“We are without a doubt the perfect romantic retreat for couples with an incomparable alpine setting,” she said.

Millbrook is New Zealand’s premier luxury five-star resort, combining a majestic location with outstanding facilities including a wide range of quality accommodation, an 18-hole championship golf course, world class spa facility, award-winning restaurants, extensive conference facilities and a health and fitness centre.
