PRESS RELEASE
The Honourable Ian Macfarlane, the
Australian Minister for Tourism Industry and Resources has
appointed a New Zealander, Julie Ballance, to the Australian
Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Marks
Attorneys.
Julie is a senior partner in the Wellington office of the leading intellectual property and patent attorney firm, Baldwins.
The appointment reflects the
fact that under trans-Tasman mutual recognition
legislation
most New Zealand patent attorneys are now
registered to practice in Australia.
Her appointment is for a three year term.
Chairman of Baldwins, Colin Hadley, said today: “this is an exciting development for the patent attorney profession in New Zealand, for our firm and for Julie who will bring to the table her expertise and credentials in intellectual property.
