Royal Lakeside Novotel Supports World Champs

The Royal Lakeside Novotel Rotorua is the official host hotel for the UCI Mountain Bike and Trails World Championships, to be held 22- 27 August 2006 in Rotorua.

Rotorua has fast gained a reputation amongst mountain biking enthusiasts and attracting the event of this caliber to Rotorua is a reflection of the quality of the riding in the area.

The UCI Mountain Bike and Trails World Championships have a purpose built course on the slopes of Mt Ngongotaha and will also use the magnificent networks in the Whakarewarewa Forest.

Already the hotel is showing its commitment with a giant multi-storey poster featuring 2004 World Elite Women’s Downhill Champion, Vanessa Quin, draped down one side of the hotel. It is highlighted at night with special spot lighting.

The opening ceremony will be held outside the front of the Royal Lakeside Novotel and the nearby Village Green will be focal point for those involved in the event.

“We’ve been working with the event organizers since June 2004. It is such a high profile event and it will bring the sports media spotlight on Rotorua”, says General Manager of Royal Lakeside Novotel Rotorua and Hotel Ibis Rotorua, Klaus Gottschalk. New Zealand’s TV 3 will be covering the event with highlights packages on air during the weekend of the event. ENDS
