Econet available to Help Vodafone with billing system
Econet Wireless New Zealand (Econet) has offered to supply and install a billing system for just 20% of the unbelievable $300 million Vodafone is apparently spending on its new system.
"You just can't spend that much on a billing system for 2 million customers. Billing systems are generally sold on a software 'cost per user' license basis. Econet would be happy to supply and install a billing system for $60m - a mere 20% of the cost Vodafone is apparently facing," commented Nick Read , Senior Engineer at Econet.
However, Econet Chief Project Director, Tex Edwards, added a note of caution.
"This purported cost is so massive it could actually have the effect of transferring value to other parts of the Vodafone Group or misleading New Zealand regulators and policy-makers as to the true costs of Vodafone's capital and R&D spending in New Zealand," said Edwards.
