“Westpac congratulates Styrobeck for its successes in these awards and its innovation in manufacturing. It’s an example of the type of company that will help drive the future for Manukau and New Zealand,” says Bruce McLachlan, Westpac General Manager for Business Banking.
Styrobeck supplies polystyrene and plastic products to a wide range of industries, including the building, marine, horticulture and fishing trades, from its Manukau and Wellington factories. It has recently developed a new insulated concrete formwork called Ambionse, which forms a very high strength, sound and fire proof wall.
“Manufacturing is the corner stone of the Manukau economy,” says Alasdair Thompson, Chief Executive of the Employers and Manufacturers Association.
“Styrobeck has a proactive approach to manufacturing, and has developed key strategic alliances that has allowed it to succeed. It’s investment in modern technology and plant means it can design products to fit its customer’s specific needs.”
Styrobeck has a strong focus on innovation as a source of competitive advantage.
“This strong understanding of its customers means Styrobeck has the ability to anticipate industry trends. It is this anticipation of what the future will be like that is the difference which makes Styrobeck the winner of the Realize Innovation and Strategy Award,” says John Missen of Realize Innovation.
“Companies have to change and to tailor products to customer demands. Styrobeck’s focus on this means it can plan for and meet the future confident of success.”
Styrobeck is committed to its staff and community as well. Many of its employees have been with the company for a long time, and Styrobeck supports them through long term professional development. It has a good record of sponsoring community organisations, and is committed to the environment, reusing waste products wherever possible.
“The future success of Manukau as an international city depends on businesses like Styrobeck,” says Sir Barry Curtis, Mayor of Manukau.
“As a manufacturer and innovator, Styrobeck is a leading light for business in our city. I congratulate them on their success and look forward to their ongoing leadership.”
