FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR 2006 LIANZ NEW ZEALAND LANDSCAPE OF THE YEAR

The finalists have been announced for the 2006 LIANZ New Zealand Landscape of the Year Awards – and South Island gardens overwhelmingly dominate the line-up.

More than two thirds of the 17 finalists chosen by the judges are from Canterbury, Otago and Southland. The gardens range from contemporary urban courtyards to sophisticated lakeside landscapes and innovative native gardens.

“The South Island residential gardens that have been named as finalists are all magnificent and it’s pleasing to see such a strong New Zealand flavour coming through,” says LIANZ Awards lead judge Robin Shafer.

“As judges we were looking for faultless, flagship gardens and it was exciting to find such a level of craftsmanship and quality in terms of design, horticulture and construction.”

The New Zealand Landscape Awards are held every two years by the Landscape Industries Association of New Zealand (LIANZ).
