Enigma Wins Overall Prize At Tuanz Awards

Enigma Wins Overall Prize At Tuanz Innovation Awards 2006

Health software company Enigma last night won the TUANZ Innovation of the Year Award 2006.

Enigma was chosen for its PREDICT CVD-Diabetes product, which allows clinicians to accurately assess the risk of patients having a heart attack and support high quality management for cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

The product reflects the current evidence of best-practice as written in the New Zealand guidelines.

The criteria for the award was: "The most innovative product, service or initiative overall, developed in New Zealand and delivered electronically to New Zealanders."

Enigma executive chairman Roger Bowie said it was Enigma's aim to help and benefit as many New Zealanders as possible and the win was a fantastic endorsement.

"Cardiovascular disease and diabetes are chronic conditions and significant clinical issues in New Zealand on a local and national level."

"This product brings the New Zealand guidelines to life, by bringing the latest evidence to the moment of care, thereby providing clinicians with real-time, accurate information for diagnosis and risk management."

The judges said: "We looked for a fully New Zealand-developed product that impacted on the maximum number of people to produce the greatest benefit. The extent of the collaboration was a significant factor in choosing Enigma for this best of the best award."

The development of PREDICT CVD-Diabetes involved collaboration with a national group of clinicians and support staff from primary care, secondary care and non-governmental organisations.

Enigma managing director Mike Stanbridge thanked all those who had helped Enigma with the significant and important PREDICT project.

"In particular, we thank our project partner, Auckland University School of Population Health, including Dr Sue Wells and Prof Rod Jackson who have long been champions for heart disease risk management in New Zealand and overseas.

"Our vision for this product has been validated by the judges and we look forward to continuing to bring this product to patients and clinicians in New Zealand and overseas."
