Website addresses privacy issues

Tradesman directory websites have come under scrutiny recently because of people being able to publicly criticise a company with out their knowledge and publishing company details directly from other lists available to the public.

With the rapid expansion of the building and construction industry in New Zealand, the biggest problem facing consumers today is choosing a company that is reliable and reasonably priced. TradePages has come up with the solution! This new, innovative website allows all consumers to search for tradespeople and choose one using a secure ratings system; without the legal and privacy implications brought about by similar websites.

"TradePages is an opt-in website rather than opt-out so tradesmen who choose to sign-up to our website are allowing themselves to be publicly reviewed obviously resulting in a more trusted network of tradesmen," said Luke Kelly, Sales and Marketing Manager.

TradePages also provides consumers with the option of reviewing the work that the tradesperson has done for them, upon completion of the job. This new feedback system now allows the TradePages team to check reviews for authenticity before publishing.

These recent changes mean that consumers will be able to find more information about the tradesperson before they begin working for them. The secure rating system also allows only consumers who initiate contact with a tradesperson to place feedback.

"Customer and tradesman demand for the website to show comments forced us to make changes to the site" Mr Kelly said. "We anticipate reviews will take time to start coming through, but over time we are confident of maintaining a small group of New Zealand's most trusted and respected tradesmen".

How does the TradePages review system work?

TradePages realises the need to have a secure review system that is unable to be easily manipulated, abused or sabotaged.

Once a TradePages user contacts a tradesperson via an e-mail contact form; that user is sent an e-mail from TradePages.

This e-mail contains a website link that can be followed to leave feedback on the tradesperson once the designated job is completed.

The user is able to rate the tradesperson via a "Three Star" system and leave comments on the service received.

These comments are then checked by TradePages for authenticity before being uploaded to the website.

The unique ‘opt-in’ directory and rating system secures TradePages’ place as New Zealand’s premium tradesperson directory.
