Rainbow Springs Scoops Supreme Award

Rainbow Springs Scoops Supreme Award

Rainbow Springs Nature Park was announced the Supreme Winner of the Westpac Rotorua Business of the Year award at a gala ceremony held on Friday night (6th Oct) in Rotorua.

On their way to this top accolade they were also the proud category winner of the Hospitality and Attractions section. Rainbow Springs Nature Park was up against Freo’s Cafe© and Hotel Ibis Rotorua in this section.

It is the first time that the iconic Rotorua attraction has won either of the awards. There were 26 other finalists from diverse sectors of the Rotorua business community.

General Manager Stewart Brown was delighted to receive such recognition. “Our staff have made an especially hard effort over the past 18 months and the awards are a reflection of their dedication and commitment”. The attraction has introduced new products in recent months including night tours and a new outdoor walk-through kiwi enclosure. The adjacent Kiwi Encounter facility has successfully hatched 108 kiwi chicks in the past year. Rainbow Springs Nature Park also launched a combination product with neighbouring Mitai Maori Cultural Group.

The awards will be displayed in the customer service areas to reinforce the commitment of the attraction to quality and constantly striving for excellence. They signify and reinforce Rainbow Springs Nature Park’s iconic attraction status in Rotorua again. The awards will also be used in marketing and promotional areas. “We will include the awards details in our newsletters to travel agents and people on our database and including reference to it in our email signatures too”, comments Sales and Marketing Manager, Rob Finlayson.

The entry process itself started in the winter by the management team. The written entry was due before 7 July 2006. Once selected as a finalist, Rainbow Springs Nature Park was required to make a personal presentation to a judging panel of 15 people. This presentation was the result of wide input from our staff at the attraction including operations and guiding staff.
