Mike Fox Appointed To The Board Of Building Research

Building Research has appointed Mike Fox to their Board, effective immediately. Mike is the Registered Master Builders Federation representative on the Building Research Board.

Mr Fox is the founding director of Primesite Homes Limited. Established in 1981, Primesite Homes is an award winning home building company, which has built hundreds of new houses to date. Primesite Homes’ mission is to educate their clients about the building and design process so that they can make informed decisions regarding their house; ensuring that the building process is rewarding and enjoyable.

Steve Gentry, the Building Research Board Chairman said, “Mike has significant, practical and managerial experience in the construction industry, having worked in the industry for 30 years, and has been a Registered Master Builder for over 20 years. We are pleased to have a director of his calibre on the Board and we anticipate drawing upon his extensive knowledge, which will benefit Building Research.”

Educated at St Patrick's College Wellington, Mike completed a Certificate of Building at Wellington Polytechnic. He lives in Churton Park and is a keen cyclist having taken part in the 160 kilometre Taupo Cycle Challenge nine times.

Mike has served on the Wellington Association of the Registered Master Builders for 10 years, is the Registered Master Builders Federation Immediate Past President and a current director of the Registered Master Builders Federation. He is also a director of Master Build Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Registered Master Builders Federation, who provide the Masterbuild 7-year guarantee covering loss of deposit, non-completion of building work, defective workmanship and defective materials.

Building Research is an independent entity with a primary role of investment in research, technology transfer and scholarship activities. The Building Research Board is drawn widely from the building and construction sector, comprising nominees of the Registered Master Builders’ Federation, Property Council of New Zealand, Building Industry Federation, Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand, New Zealand Contractors’ Federation, Local Government New Zealand, Business New Zealand, New Zealand Institute of Architects, Housing New Zealand Corporation and New Zealand Building Subcontractors’ Federation. The Board is responsible for determining how the Building Industry Research Levy funds are invested.
