Freight Agreement Between New Zealand King Salmon And Air New Zealand

New Zealand King Salmon announced today that Air New Zealand National Cargo has been selected as its preferred supplier of domestic airfreight from Nelson airport for the next five years.

The new arrangement sees King Salmon using the Air New Zealand link network operated by Air Nelson. The majority of product will be carried on Air Nelson’s Q300 aircraft which commenced operations this year.

NZ King Salmon General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Mr Don Everitt, says consumers depend upon very fresh salmon product.

“To provide the quality our customers need we must ensure the trade get very efficient freight services. The new arrangement with Air New Zealand on the Air Nelson network is designed to provide prompt delivery to all major destinations within 24 hours of customers placing orders. This means consumers can be assured of the freshness of our Regal Marlborough Salmon, Seasmoke and Southern Ocean brands in New Zealand.”

Air Nelson’s introduction of the Q300 aircraft has significantly increased the available cargo capacity into and out of the Nelson region.

“By utilising the Q300 capacity, Air New Zealand National Cargo has been able to offer King Salmon a comprehensive airfreight solution that includes the ability to meet onward connections via transit airports,” says Paul Gurr, market service manager for New Zealand King Salmon who is responsible for the business initiative.

“This enables New Zealand King Salmon to achieve direct delivery into multiple destinations and avoid traditional road transport bottlenecks in the North Island,” he says.

Air New Zealand National Cargo Manager, Rick Nelson emphasised the importance of the King Salmon partnership: “The New Zealand King Salmon business is a very significant contract for Air New Zealand and we are very focussed on delivering a high quality solution.”

The contracted arrangement ensures NZ King Salmon product is well handled and carried in pristine condition.
