Traffic jams on the information superhighway

Traffic jams on the information superhighway

An annual Consumer survey of over 10,000 internet users has revealed declining satisfaction with ISPs. Only 66% of respondents to the 2006 survey were satisfied or very satisfied with their ISP, compared to 82% last year. This average is dragged down by the ratings for Xtra, whose customers made up 51% of the responses received.

Xtra rated the worst in every category of the survey, with just 55% of its customers rating it satisfactory or very satisfactory, down from 78% last year.

The top rated ISP, for the 3rd year in a row was Inspire. A huge 97% of Inspire users responding rated its performance as good of very good.

“Support, both online and offline is a key factor in satisfaction with your ISP” says David Russell of Consumers’ Institute. “However, price is still key. Consumers can choose the best dial-up or broadband ISP for their needs by using the interactive plan selectors at consumer.org.nz.”
