Light Up Your Home in Style this Christmas


The Warehouse is searching for the best and brightest home as part of its annual ‘Light Up Your Home’ Christmas competition, thought to be the largest of its kind in New Zealand.

Budding out-door Christmas decorators are encouraged to light up their homes with festive spirit to be into win $10,000 to spend at The Warehouse.

The home of last year’s winners, the Anderson family of Kaiapoi, could be seen from the flight path over Christchurch and was chosen from over 700 entries for its meticulous, creative and colourful outdoor lighting display that took the winners a full two weeks to set up.

Entries close on Friday 8 December and already this year’s competition looks to be bigger and better than ever.

“We’ve already received over 100 entries! I’ve no doubt there’s going to be tough competition with reports that some customers started to plan their displays in September. We’re warmed by stories of people right around the country with a genuine festive spirit and passion for decorating their homes. I look forward to seeing the entry photos,” Cynthia Church, Corporate Affairs Manager at The Warehouse.

The 2006 national winner and five runners up will be announced Monday 18 December. The national winner receives $10,000 to spend at The Warehouse and the five runners up each receive $500 to spend at The Warehouse.

Entrants are required to purchase at least one type of Christmas lights from The Warehouse to enter. Along with the entry form, contestants send photos of their home decorated for the festive season and will be judged on their creative flair and effort.
