Air New Zealand cancels service to Tonga
Air New Zealand confirms it has cancelled its flight to Tonga this afternoon, affecting about 150 travellers.
The flight was initially due to operate yesterday but was re-scheduled due to civil unrest in the area.
Air New Zealand, in liaison with the New Zealand High Commission in Tonga, is currently not confident that the level of security around the Airport is sufficient to guarantee the safety of passengers, crew and its aircraft.
The situation will be reviewed this evening and a decision made tomorrow with regard to services over the weekend.
Air New Zealand currently operates five services per week Auckland - Tonga.
