Untouched World to open in Wellington

Media release – November 26, 2006

Untouched World to open in Wellington

Leading lifestyle designer Untouched World will open its fifth store in Wellington in March, the company announced today.

Untouched World has two stores in Christchurch, one in Auckland and one in Queenstown.

Last week they were named the Deloittes / Management top 200 business ethics award winner, having been a finalist in 2002 and 2004 and the emerging enterprise winner two years ago.

The new Wellington store will be site on the corner of Featherstone and Brandon Streets in a building being redeveloped.

``We have been looking for the right space in the right location, convenient for our customers for over two years now,’’ Untouched world managing director Peri Drysdale said today.

``We already have a lot of Wellington customers on our database who shop at our other stores. They want us in Wellington so much they even send us suggestions when they see shop space coming up for lease.

``We are not saying too much about what the store will look like but the fit-out will continue elements of our other stores. Though each shore is very much Untouched World, each has its own personality.’’

Drysdale said she would be looking at ways they can minimise their environmental footprint as they fit out the store which is large enough to carry the whole Untouched World collection for men and women.

Untouched World, winner of the 2006 Auckland Top Shop innovative retailer of the year award, uses natural fibres, predominantly certified organic merino and certified organic cottons in its collections along with recycled cotton buttons and recycled interlinings.

Untouched World has the backing of celebrity style guru Cameron Silver, who is ranked one of the 25 most influential names and faces in fashion in the world, according to Time Magazine.
``I really think Untouched World is on to something quite extraordinary and the fabrics are so exceptional,’’ Silver said.

``Untouched World has great global potential to be the definitive modern luxury casual brand for the active and conscious globetrotter.’’

Fans of the brand include Bill Clinton who regularly buys Untouched World clothing when he visits New Zealand after buying into the label during the 1999 Apec leaders meeting.

Drysdale was named New Zealand of the Year in January by glossy magazine North and South and is a former South Island businesswoman of the year. Her daughter Emily Drysdale is the company’s award winning international designer.
