InterCity boosts services over the Holiday period

InterCity has added 1,500 additional seats to its services today, to cater for heavy customer demand over the Christmas and New Year period.

InterCity recently increased its link services between Palmerston North and Napier (fares from $19); Wellington to Napier (fares from $30); Hamilton and Rotorua (fares from $15) and Rotorua to Auckland (fares from $25) due to increased demand.

Sales and Marketing Manager for InterCity Group Limited, Daniel Rode, said InterCity is responding to demand from both domestic travellers and international tourists who are either heading away on holiday, or returning home to be with family and friends over the Christmas and New Year period.

“This is a particularly busy time of year for all travellers and we’re adding additional seats to ensure people can get from A to B easily. With the extra traffic on the roads more people are choosing efficient and well-organised public transport options as a means of getting around the place,” said Daniel.

“Coaches are spacious, modern, well-equipped and air-conditioned so passengers arrive feeling relaxed and ready to celebrate the holiday season,” he added.

The majority of the extra seats will be ex-Auckland travelling throughout New Zealand.

InterCity Group is 100 per cent Kiwi owned and operated and has invested more than $16.5 million dollars during the past three years to enhance, maintain and invest in its national tourism and transport infrastructure, which connects more than 600 towns, cities and communities. InterCity Group carries 1.5 million passengers each year (500,000 are international tourists).

The InterCity services can be booked through more than 600 agents across the country. Check out www.intercity.co.nz to book online or check the local white pages for your nearest agent.
