Te Kairanga Wines takes on export sales challenges

Pioneering Martinborough vineyard, Te Kairanga Wines (TK), is strengthening its senior management team. To build on recent export successes, Andrew Shackleton moves from a general managerial role to become the new Sales and Marketing Director.

In making the announcement, Roger Taylor, chairman of Te Kairanga Wines, said "Andrew has led the recent phenomenal rise of our export sales, both in new and existing markets. This specialist role both recognises that success and will ensure we meet our export-led growth targets."

"When not traveling off-shore, Andrew will continue to manage national distributor relationships and TK's marketing and direct sales functions."

"TK will be focusing directly on sales growth by building on penetration into markets such as Australia, the US and Canada. This is an exciting time for the company as we expand our existing markets and establish new ones."

"We've just appointed a new distributor in the UK and we will be looking at new opportunities opening up in Europe and Asia," said Andrew Shackleton.

Recent examples of TK's successes are its first orders from Germany and Russia. In the US, where its wines are sold in 29 of the 50 states, TK is the featured winery in the latest edition of 'Wine Enthusiast' magazine.

Te Kairanga Wines Limited (TK) is a founding Martinborough vineyard, with a 20-year heritage of award-winning pinot noir and aromatic wines. With 105 hectares in six vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace, TK will produce more than 30,000 cases from the 2006 vintage. Major markets are Australia, Europe and the US, where the wines are available in some 29 states.
