Joyful And Triumphant Christmas For 42 Below

Joyful And Triumphant Christmas
For 42 Below Stable

The World Beverage Competition comes bearing gifts of gold (and platinum
and silver) for New Zealand’s super-premium spirits company

Auckland, 21 December 2006 - 42 BELOW has even more reason to celebrate this Christmas – five medals at the prestigious World Beverage Competition, the largest beverage competition on the planet.

42 Below Vodka won the premium Platinum Best Of Show award in the Vodka category and 420 Volcanic Spring Water won Platinum Best In Show in the Water category, while stablemates South Gin and Seven Tiki won golds in the Gin and White Rum categories respectively.

The company’s latest recruit, Tahiti Dark, scored a silver in the Dark Rum category, the first award for the new product - and no doubt not the last.

About 42 Below’s Platinum Best In Show award, the WBC judges said, “This relative newcomer has proven you don’t have to be the biggest brand to be the best. Enchanting taste and value price make a Best of Show of 42 Below.”

All products entered in the World Beverage Competition are “double blind taste-tested” by an international panel of judges from six different continents, who do not see the packaging or know the brand name prior to documenting and submitting their tasting scorecards.

42 Below Chief Vodka Bloke Geoff Ross says, “This just goes to prove what we’ve always said – that what is inside the bottle is just as important as what’s on the outside. We love marketing the 42 Below range, because we know we’re selling the best goddamn spirits on the planet.”

The WBC awards also top off a fantastic year for 420 Water. This year, the super-pure Kiwi volcanic spring water won two Best In Show gongs at the bottledwaterworld awards in Monza, Italy, as well as two New Zealand design industry awards for its iconic ‘lava lamp’ bottle design.

42 BELOW is the world’s most awarded vodka and has achieved a clean sweep of golds at all of the world’s major spirit competitions.

In 2006, 42 BELOW won gold and silver at the San Francisco Spirit Awards, three golds and the International High Quality Trophy at the Monde Spirit Awards, two stars at the International Quality & Taste Institute, and five gongs at London’s International Wine & Spirit Competition, including two spectacular Best In Class awards.

42 BELOW also won two golds at the Cannes Lion advertising awards, the Oscars of the ad world.
