Travcom is proud to again present the annual Cathay Pacific Travel Media Awards, in March 2007, offering New Zealand writers and photographers the chance to have their talents recognised and applauded. And they will win superb prizes.

The supreme winners of the Cathay Pacific Travel Writer of the Year Award and Cathay Pacific Travel Photographer of the Year Award will receive a return ticket to Vietnam and a fantastic land package with Adventure World and Travel Indochina.

Category prizes are, as usual, excellent.

Writing categories include:

Holiday Shoppe's On Location Magazine Award for the Best Magazine Travel Story

The winner receives $2000 of Holiday Shoppe Travel Vouchers.

Navigate South Award for the Best Newspaper Travel Article
The winner receives four nights from Navigate’s collection of over 20 of New Zealand’s most prestigious luxury lodges, small boutique hotels and spa destinations.

Heritage Hotels Award for the Best Travel Article Written About New Zealand
The winner receives seven complimentary room nights at a New Zealand Heritage or CityLife Hotel of the winner’s choice.

Interislander Award for the Best Article About a Journey
The winner receives a return crossing on the Interislander for a car and two passengers (including driver), including entry to the Club Class, and $1000.

AA Directions New Travel Writer of the Year Award
The winner receives $1000 and will be sent on an assignment to write a story that will be published in AA Directions.

Photographic categories include:

Avis Award for the Best Travel Image Taken In New Zealand
The winner receives an Avis Rent a Car within New Zealand for seven days plus $1000 cash.

Air Vanuatu and Le Meridien Port Vila Resort & Casino Award for the Best Series of Travel Images
The winner receives two return economy class tickets to Port Vila plus four nights accommodation at Le Meridien Port Vila Resort and Casino.

The Adventure Magazine Award for the Best Travel Image Taken Outside New Zealand
The winner receives $1500 courtesy of Adventure Magazine.

The AA Directions Magazine Award for the Best Unpublished Travel Image
The winner receives $1000 plus a photographic assignment for AA Directions Magazine.

Travel Book of the Year

Writers of travel books are not forgotten. Whitcoulls Travcom Travel Book of the Year Award is presented for the best book of creative travel writing about any country, including New Zealand.

Whitcoulls Travel Retail will award the winner $2000 cash and $500 in book vouchers. The runner-up will receive $500 in book vouchers.

Entries for the writing and photography awards close 2 February 2007.
