Air New Zealand's Fare Decrease Good News For Consumers
Air New Zealand's announcement that it will cut domestic airfares by up to 15% is great news for consumers, says House of Travel.
House of Travel's retail director Brent Thomas says it is encouraging to see the benefit of the airline's operational costs dropping is passed onto the consumer.
"This is a sensible move by Air New Zealand, which will benefit both domestic and inbound tourism. Given that Qantas's recent $5 reduction in fuel surcharges only applies to customers based in Australia, Air New Zealand's lower fares will put pressure on Qantas to match them. It all comes down to being a great boon for travellers."
Mr Thomas says House of Travel will follow any further developments closely.
"We will be watching with interest to see how this progresses."
