New Directors for CityLink

City Link Ltd has announced the appointment of Bruce Parkes as an independent Director. Mr Parkes recently joined Contact Energy as General Manager Corporate Affairs, after a long stint at Telecom.

The appointment completes the new board, as a result of the purchase of a 67% shareholding by listed Wellington company TeamTalk before Christmas. CEO Neil de Wit, TeamTalk directors Tone Borren and Geoff Davis, and TeamTalk MD David Ware (Chairman) complete the Board.

David Ware said he was delighted to have Mr Parkes joining the Board, bringing 20 years experience in the telecommunications and energy sectors covering corporate strategy, marketing, investor relations and regulatory issues.

From 1993 to 2006 Mr Parkes worked for Telecom in a number of senior roles. In 1998 he established Telecom's first Wholesale group before moving on to run Telecom's marketing strategy and pricing team for five years.

His last role in Telecom was General Manager of Government and Industry Relations responsible for regulatory issues for Telecom which included fronting the Company's interactions with the Commerce Commission and Telecommunications Commissioner.

“Mr Parkes brings particular expertise and experience in regulatory and wholesale issues in the telco sector, plus as enormous knowledge of the market,” Mr Ware said.

“Right now the telecommunications sector abounds with opportunities for world-leading companies like CityLink that have a proven track record. The company has a very exciting few years ahead of it.”
