Buddle Findlay expert appointed to
Bioethics Council
Dr Marie Bismark, a medico-legal expert with national law firm Buddle Findlay, has been appointed to Toi te Taiao: the Bioethics Council.
The Bioethics Council’s role is to engage New Zealander’s in dialogue on the cultural, ethical and spiritual aspects of biotechnology and to advise the Government on issues involving bioethics and biotechnology.
Dr Bismark, who joined Buddle Findlay’s medico-legal and public health law practice last year, has a particular interest in bioethics and medicine, and is a former Harkness Fellow. Her research papers on New Zealand’s ACC claiming framework have attracted international attention.
Her latest appointment was made by the Hon David Benson-Pope, Minister for the Environment. She will serve a three year term on the council.
