Candidates for Shareholders’council Elections

MEDIA RELEASE
12 September 2007

Candidates for Fonterra Shareholders’council Elections Announced

There will be elections in five wards for the Fonterra Shareholders’ Council this year.

Nominations for the Fonterra Shareholders’ Council 2007 elections closed at midday on Monday 12 February 2007.

Nominations were called for one Councillor in each of the 35 wards. A total of 40 nominations were received across all wards, with 30 Councillors elected unopposed.

Voter packs, containing candidate profiles for each election, will be mailed to shareholders in wards that have elections on 28 February 2007. Voting closes at 12 noon on Thursday 22 March 2007.

Voting for Shareholders’ Councillors is on the basis of two votes per shareholder, using the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system. Both votes can be used by the shareholder, or one can be given to the sharemilker. These votes are not weighted by milksolids production.

Shareholders can vote by secure on-line voting, fax or by post.

The five wards where elections are being held are as follows:

Ward Candidate
7 Coromandel Warren Campbell
Dirk Sieling

11 Western Bay of Plenty Murray Linton
Allan Titchmarsh

14 Te Awamutu Kevin Ferris
Greg Glover

30 Northern Canterbury Gail Woods
Geoff Stevenson

33 Otago Grant Scott
Ad Bekkers

In the 30 other wards, there was only one nomination received. In those wards, Fonterra’s Board Chairman will declare the nominees elected as Councillors on 22 March 2007.
