Schubert Wines Pinot Noir From Martinborough Shares Top Rank With The Best From Burgundy
In a memorable, international, blind, Pinot Noir tasting held in Germany, at Berlin's famed Hotel Adlon, Schubert's 2004 Pinot Noir from New Zealand was awarded the top score of the tasting, tying with Burgundies icon 1999er "Musigny Grand Cru" of Comte de Vog, Chambolle-Musigny (Retailing at 450 per bottle in Germany).
"The judges were most surprised by the wine that Musigny shared this ranking with. The 2004 Schubert Pinot Noir (called "Block B" in Germany) was thought by many tasters to be an expensive Burgundy because of its raspberry freshness and elegance" said Kai Schubert, vintner and owner of Schubert Wines who emigrated from Germany to Martinborough.
