New Collection Arrives In New Zealand
Designers Guild's latest collection of fabric and wallcoverings, Oriental Garden, has just arrived in New Zealand and is available at Small Acorns stores in Auckland, Wellington and online at www.smallacorns.co.nz.
Designers Guild expert and Small Acorns owner, Amanda Holland says the collection introduces shimmering metallics and pearlised effects in both the woven fabrics and wallpapers.
"This is a very tactile collection," explains Holland. "It cries out to be touched!"
In terms of the colour palette, Holland says the collection has something for everyone, spanning subtle neutrals, gorgeous duck-egg blues and soft pastels to striking signature Designers Guild colours, such as raspberry red.
The Oriental Garden Fabrics reflect the structured formalism of traditional Japanese arts and crafts. The designs are based on natural forms of landscape and flora, and reflect the graphic sensuality of all that is best in Japanese design.
"The design influences range from ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, to a very contemporary take on woven tatami mats, which are traditional Japanese floor mats made from woven rice straw," says Holland.
Taisho Blossom silk is the signature design of the collection, which includes other floral motifs, including Tokyo Dahlia and Ikebana.
Designs with strong graphic elements also feature, such as the elegant Pagoda Toile, and Kabuki Lanterns, which echoes the highly stylised, traditional form of Japanese theatre.
There are six new print designs in 28 colourways available, with a variety of base cloths, including linen union, cotton duck, panama and pure silk which, Holland says, adds a 'wow factor' to this collection.
The Oriental Garden
Wallcoverings include dramatic feature wall designs,
together with designs perfect for all-over, multi-wall use.
"'This Oriental Garden collection turns wallpaper in to art," says Holland.
The graphic stylized patterns of Tokyo Dahlia and Ikebana are tempered by the elegant flowing lines of Kabuki, Taisho Blossom and Pagoda Toile. The elegant, plain textured Shiruku completes the collection.
There are eight designs in a total of 64 colourways in this dramatic, decorative wallcovering collection.
Small Acorns stores are located in Auckland
(Redmond St, Ponsonby) and Wellington
(Featherston St).
Orders can be placed online at www.smallacorns.co.nz.
