Asia:NZ executive director to step down
The executive director of the Asia New Zealand Foundation, John Austin, will step down at the beginning of next month for health reasons, Asia:NZ chair Philip Burdon announced today.
Mr Austin tendered his resignation, effective from April 1, ahead of heart surgery scheduled later that month.
Mr Burdon said he regretted the decision but accepted that Mr Austin’s post operation recovery and long term well being were more important factors.
“John has made a vital contribution to the foundation in the year and a half he has been its executive director and I want to thank him for that contribution.
“I and my fellow board members would like to take this opportunity to wish him the best for his recovery and a return to full health.”
Asia:NZ’s deputy director Adele Mason will be acting executive director until a new director is appointed.
