Methven Showers Top for Efficiency, Performance

NEWS RELEASE

Methven Showers Rate Top Choice for Water Efficiency & Performance

Auckland, New Zealand – 09 March 2007. A just released Australian Consumer Association ‘ Choice ‘ has rated three showering products from New Zealand tapware company, Methven in their top three for water saving efficiency and showering performance.

Methven’s Satinjet Futura Wallshower, Bermuda Wall Shower and Olympic 3000 Hi-Rise shower took out line honours rating first, second and third place respectively. The independent survey put a large range of shower brands through their paces in a series of rigorous trials to determine the outcomes and scored the three Methven products 80% and above with its Satinjet shower polling the highest at an 85% approval rating in the trial criteria.

Whilst the New Zealand marketplace has strong conservation protocols in respect to water efficiency, conditions in the Australian environment have necessitated legislative intervention to preserve this precious resource. The Water Labelling and Standards (WELS) scheme requires a wide range of water usage products such as showerheads to be rated and label their water efficiency. The scheme replaces the old voluntary AAA rating system. In addition to this scheme, some states of Australia are also incentivising homeowners to switch to more water efficient products in order to meet the specific water saving targets of their region.

The March 2007 ‘Choice’ trial noted that one of the dilemmas of water efficient products was performance and this is where the three Methven showering products really stood out.

Methven chief executive officer, Rick Fala says “the design and manufacture of water efficient showering and tapware products today is not just a matter of adding a flow restrictor to your product offering, it is about design technology at conception rather than modification of previous designs.”

The design philosophy of Methven is to provide a range of water saving options through interchangeable showerheads and showering technology that can be simply moderated by the user, without compromising the luxurious showering experience that Methven has become renowned for.

“Appealing to a wide range of needs and desires such as aesthetic appeal, showering experience, installation and budget mean a company wide approach to our design and manufacture of products where best practice and innovative design permeates every step of the process,” says Mr Fala.
