Dairying Women Get Challenged
MEDIA RELEASE 13 March 2007
Dairying Women Get Challenged at National Conference
Women working in the dairying industry will be challenged – both mentally and physically - at this year’s Network for Women in Dairying annual conference in Invercargill.
General Manager, Lynda Clark, says the conference will set women up to overcome the challenges they face on the farm, in the market and in their personal lives.
“This year’s conference theme is, The Dairying Challenge, and is an essential learning opportunity for all women working in the dairy industry. The two-day programme is aimed at equipping attendees with information to help them succeed in every facet of their lives.
“Topics will revolve around tough issues such productive calf rearing, succession planning and effective communication,” explains Lynda.
To top off this year’s ‘challenging’theme, the keenest conference attendees get the opportunity to join a fun rock climbing expedition at the beginning of day two.
Lynda says many women are looking forward to the main session on day two - ‘The Global Conversation.’
“On the second day of the conference, one of our key sessions will help women understand the challenges, rewards and potential financial returns of being involved in dairy farming overseas. Several New Zealand experts will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of overseas investments and business ventures.
“People who have had both successes and hardships with international business ventures will share their experiences with conference participants,” says Lynda.
The 2007 Network for Women in Dairying National Conference will be held in Invercargill on 17 and 18 May. Conference costs are $170+GST for registrations received before 30 April. Dinner, breakfast and accommodation are not included in the registration fee.
