Secrets Of Designed Business Success

21 March 2007

Design For The Bottom Line - Secrets Of Designed Business Success.

New Zealand CEOs offered unique forum to workshop, learn and discuss business innovation through design. (May 2,3 – Auckland.)

A hand-picked line up of inspiring speakers from around the world will provide insights and perspective for New Zealand CEOs on how integrating design into business can play a massive role in the growth and profitability of local companies.

The invitation-only Better by Design CEO Summit has been created for CEOs and senior managers to discuss issues about design, innovation and management with particular focus on adding export value.

It’s a dynamic programme featuring some of the world’s most sought after speakers including Lars Engman, the former Design Director of Scandinavian furniture giant, IKEA, Frank Nuovo, the former Chief of Design at Nokia who is credited with spearheading Nokia's position as the world’s 6th most valuable brand and Jez Frampton CEO of Interbrand, a leading brand consultancy, serving clients worldwide.

Spearheading the “better by design” message to New Zealand exporters is Icebreaker CEO Jeremy Moon who as Chair of the Advisory Board was an integral force in selecting and convincing this group of speakers to attend the summit.

”There are very relevant learnings here for New Zealand business from global leaders of big brands from small countries,” said Moon. “There’s a revolution in business under way and this is the chance to surf the wave.”

The two day summit is not designed to just highlight international triumphs. It’s also a showcase for the practical success stories of prominent New Zealand companies who are using design to grow their exports. These include Infratil, Bendon, Icebreaker Clothing, 42 Below, TradeMe, Click Clack and phil&teds.

This is the second Better by Design forum. In 2005, delegates were told why design is good for business. NZTE Sector Director, Creative & Tourism, Dame Cheryll Sotheran says the aim of this year’s summit is to deliver more of the “how to” in terms of managing the design process to accelerate business growth and performance.

“Our vision is for New Zealand exporters to be price makers in the world market by offering products and services that employ design to command high margins and reflect the talent, skills and innovation we have here in New Zealand.”
