Award Winners Scrum Down With Ranfurly Shield

No, this isn’t the new forward pack trying out for the Ranfurly Shield-winning North Harbour rugby team..….but they are champions in their own right.

They’re all previous supreme winners of the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards, who gathered to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the awards.

Representing seven of the nine past winners – two were unable to attend – they were among 180 guests at a special North Harbour Stadium event to launch the search for the tenth supreme winner, along with other category winners for the 2007 awards.

The appearance of the Ranfurly Shield helped to draw a record turn-out for the launch function and the awards organiser, Enterprise North Shore, is hoping that will translate into a record number of entries this year.

Greg Byrne, Regional Manager, Business Banking Auckland for principal sponsor Westpac said: “Business is not a spectator sport – it requires you to pull on your boots and get out on the field. Similarly, these awards are a great way to measure yourself against other players in the business field, celebrate success and learn from each other’s experiences.”

The 2007 Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards is open to any business operating on the North Shore and, as well as the Supreme Award, there are 12 individual categories, making it possible for virtually any type of business to enter and become winners. These include:

 BDO Spicers Excellence in Service Delivery award
 ACC ThinkSafe Workplace Safety Award
 Actionmail Excellence in Marketing Award
 Chelsea Sugar Excellence in Exporting Award
 Massey University Excellence in Technology Award
 3M NZ Excellence in Innovation Award
 North Shore Times Contribution to the Community Award
 Smales Farm Excellence in Environmental Management Award
 Benefitz Best New Start-up Business Award
 BCS Group Best Emerging Business Award
 Smith & Davies Employer of Choice Award
 The Spencer on Byron Hotel Excellence in Hospitality and Tourism Award

Businesses can enter up to three categories and the winners of each category will be eligible for the Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award. Businesses can enter online (www.ens.org.nz/awards) and facilitators are available to encourage and support entrants.

Entries must be submitted by 5pm on Thursday 14 June and finalists will be announced by Monday 23 July.
